Me as a Contemporary Learner
You as a contemporary teacher?
To what extent is it reasonable to conclude that
if you are not experiencing positive or negative emotions about the materials
and activities in any learning experience, that you are potentially
disinterested or not motivated? Discuss in relation to your first emotional
response to the nature of this unit.
If you are
feeling disinterested in learning materials related to your subject, you do not
have a passion for the subject. I believe all subjects pose a challenge to our
learning, but if we have a passion for that subject, that challenge should be
exciting. My emotional response to this unit was a surge of overwhelming nerves
because this subject is something that is going to be a challenging learning
experience to me but as a preservice teacher I need to develop my ICT skills.
Elaborate on
your emotions on engaging further with this unit? Positive, negative.
Indifferent?
Whilst my
emotions were overwhelming, I took this as a positive experience as I saw this
as a learning challenge. I aim to engage in all aspects of this unit, to get
the most out of using ICT in my future teaching.
To what extent
do you have the commitment to actively interrogate your emotions, and your
beliefs about creative pedagogy that extends beyond the mere delivery of
information to your learners?
I believe all
students have a right to be creative in their learning and explore their own
learning style. It is my role as the teacher to encourage creative thinking and
learning. If I show students my passion for teaching and learning through my
emotions and beliefs this gives students the opportunities to shape their own
beliefs.
Identify your
present values and beliefs about ICT in the classroom. Keep it brief and
focused.
COVID-19 saw our
teaching platform change forever. I believe ICT in the classroom has a positive
impact on learning where students have control of their learning and can source
the resources for themselves. I believe all teachers should integrate
technology into their teaching as that is where our future is heading towards.
However, if used incorrectly students waste their learning opportunities.
Your approach
to teaching and learning
My approach to
teaching is to give all students the opportunity to learn in a safe and
supportive environment. I aim to do this by building strong relationships with
all my students. Learning is about students finding information, remembering
and understanding it and applying it to do creative things with it.
Identify any
challenges to the early challenges to your values and beliefs as you enter this
unit?
Working in a
school, I have seen the negative effects of technology and I think some
students abuse the privilege of having access to these resources. I am hoping
this unit gives me a better insight into the positive effects of ICT.
What
experience do you have with ICT in the classroom?
As mentioned
previously, ICT has negative effects in the classroom when used incorrectly.
However, this resource assists students who perform at a lower literacy level
as it gives them an opportunity to accurately write what they intend to and
allow their teachers to understand it. They can learn how to correctly spell
the words they struggle with. It also makes students investigative learners and
they source the information themselves.
