ABOUT ME

Little bit about me:

I have lived in Mackay, Queensland my whole life and grew up at one of the best beaches in the state. I have played many sports including tennis, indoor and outdoor netball and volleyball and I know currently play AFL. I support the Sydney Roosters in NRL (insert hurtful jokes) and am passionate about all sports. I absolutely love to cook and well sewing is a learning experience for me.

I am a very open and honest person who wants to see every student I come across succeed in school and in life. I have always had a passion to help other which is evident through my community ties but I felt I could do more with this passion. Teaching is my attempt at combining my love for physical education and home economics and sharing that love and passion with others. I believe teachers should be positive role models, caring people and passionate about learning and their students achievements. My goals in teaching are to connect with students and assist them to improve their educational outcomes and help them set goals for the future.

What am I most passionate about?

As physical education is my other major, I am extremely passionate about healthy eating and healthy living. I would love to make a difference in students lives and open their eyes to the nutrition side of food and deter them away from fast foods and other unhealthy foods. If students have the knowledge and resources to learn how to cook the right foods, I strongly believe most students will attempt to cook these at home bettering their eating habits. I am also passionate about safety, as I grew up with a dad as a firefighter I have been surrounded by cooking and kitchen life lessons my whole life. Students do not even realise the bad habits they have developed in the kitchen until they are brought to their attention such as, placing the knife at the base of the chopping board, having an unstable chopping board or peeling towards your body.

What I will bring to the classroom:

As a person who is passionate about learning and enjoying the cooking process, I hope to bring a positive and open attitude to every class where all students feel included. I have been cooking for most of my life so therefore I will be passing all my knowledge onto my future students and my own set of dos and don'ts. I also hope to bring a little humor into my classes as I see it as a way to bond with my students. Take the below videos for example will be a fun way of showing my students the do and don'ts of cooking and sewing.
